September has been a pretty crazy month with last minute baby preparations and weekends full of baby showers. Ed and I started our baby classes this month. We have taken a Labor Basics class which talked about what to expect during labor and delivery, equipment that might be used to get the baby out, what getting an epidural will be like, and the difference between natural delivery and a c-section. We took a Newborn Basics class which covered proper car seat positions, and not to expect a perfect baby to come out - cone head, birth marks, rashes, etc. Our last class this month will be Infant CPR.
I have 2 girlfriends out here that are also pregnant and all our showers landed in September. My shower was on Saturday the 24th. Thank you to everyone that came over, it was fun to see everyone!
We didn't get many pictures from the shower but here are a few pictures of the cake, diaper cake made by Aunt Kathleen (Ed's Aunt), and some of the beautiful quilts and blankets that were made for little Joey.
This quilt was made by Ed's cousin Erin.
This lap blanket was made by my cousin Jackie.
This quilt was made by my friend Diane Sherer.
This shopping cart cover was made by my Aunt Martha.

August Happenings
Cupcake Decorating Aug 13
Ed and I took a cupcake decorating class up in Philly for something fun to do. It was being offered by a bakery out of Baltimore at one of the hotel's in the city. We learned about the different frosting tips, the best way to make cupcakes, and how to properly put frosting on a cupcake. I think we had more fun when we got to do our own freelance decorating on the little cakes.
We can now properly decorate little cupcakes for Joey.
Here is some of our art work.
Of course we had to get the little guy in the picture so he wouldn't feel left out.
Washington DC Aug 20 & 21
Before we ever found out we were going to have a little one, we made plans to do a weekend in DC to go see the Phillies play the Nationals. We had a great time down there walking all over the city and hitting some of the museum's we haven't been too. We started our trip with a trip to the National Zoo. Here are some of our Zoo pictures.
After the zoo we went to the Crime and Punishment Museum where we took an "Impressions Class". There we got to lift fingerprints and take a casting of my shoe. I wish we had more time to read everything we saw but after being there for 4 hours we needed to move on to our next museum. This is a picture of Ted Bundy's actual car.
Here are the ruby slippers and the original muppets at the American History Museum.
Here are pictures taken at the Museum of Natural History.
The Hope Diamond.
On Sunday we went to the Air and Space Museum and to the Phillies Game at National Stadium. It started to storm so we left just before the rain hit. Phillies lost to the Nationals after an hour rain delay. Here is a view from our seats.
Earthquake, Hurricane, Tornado, Oh My!!
During the week of August 22nd the Northeast was hit with an Earthquake, Hurricane, and Tornado! We were here for the earthquake; which Ed felt, I did not. No damage or power outages for us.
For the hurricane and tornado Ed and I left town and did a long weekend in Seattle where the weather was beautiful and sunny!! We left Thursday just before the storms hit and came home on Monday to a pitch black neighborhood. We lost power on Saturday night at 10pm and it came back on Wednesday night at 8pm. Here are some pictures of the culprit to our neighborhood power outage.
