February 2013

In February we had Super Bowl, a trip to the Delaware Children's Museum, a visit from Aunt Kati, and walks with Joey.

Here is daddy with his babies.

This was the excitement at our house on Super Bowl Sunday.

We took Joey to the local Children's Museum one weekend.  He had a blast.  His favorite was getting all wet playing in the water, and of course mommy didn't pack any dry clothes.

It was so nice having my sister here for a whole week.  She and Katelyn totally bonded.  Kati was a Saint and even took Katelyn for the night so I could get some sleep.  Thank goodness Katelyn is and was such a good sleeper.

Fist pumping in her sleep.  Ha!

Aunt Kati got Katelyn dressed this morning......hmmmmm.....

Posing for the camera.

I have high hopes for this kid.  We will be potty training this Fall.  He is checking out his new throne from Aunt Renay.

Love this hat but so big on her little head.

Daddy got Katelyn some headbands for her peach fuzz of a head.

This is how I get things done sometimes.  When both kids demand mommy's attention, I have to improvise.

Here is Katelyn's one month picture.

Joey loves to take walks around the block.  He of course has to pick up little treasures along the way.

Joey is such a great big brother.  He was trying to calm Katelyn down before we left to run errands.

Someone hates when I dress her up.

Here we are on another Joey walk.  He had to splash in every puddle we came across.

Then he wanted to crawl.  He's such a weirdo sometimes.  :-)

I had to strip him down as soon as we got in the house.  He was so wet from splashing in the puddles.

January 2013

At the beginning of January we took Joey up to the city (Philly) for the morning.  We stopped at our favorite little coffee shop in Rittenhouse Square.  It was nice to get out of the house for a little bit and enjoy some quiet family time together.

Joey was tuckered out by the time we got home.

Joey being Joey.

Joey always comes running when he hears the theme song to the Lottery.

Who doesn't play with their iPad in the laundry basket?

Katelyn's Birth Story:

On January 23rd while putting Joey down to bed my water broke (8:30pm).  I wasn't sure if it broke or not because it didn't feel like it did when my water broke with Joey.  So I continued to rock Joey.  I still wasn't sure if I was in labor or not.  I was having the pain but wasn't feeling the actual contraction.  So, around 10pm I went to bed.  At midnight I couldn't take the pain much longer so I woke Ed up and told him that I think I needed to call the on-call doctor.  I explained to him what was going on.  I told him at my appointment that morning my doctor said I was 2cm and 70% effaced but he thought I still had another week to go.  The on-call doc told me that I might just have a tear and a slow leak but to go to the hospital to get tit checked out.

We arrived to the hospital around 1am.  I still wasn't feeling the contractions but was definitely feeling the pain.  I had the nurse check me and she said I was 4cm and 100% effaced.  After getting up to my delivery room around 3am I asked the nurse to get me drugs and to see if anything was happening.  I was now 8cm and the anesthesiologist wasn't sure if he could give me drugs.  In my nicest possible voice, I told him to just do it.  Once they kicked in, Ed said I was a totally different person.

Once the doctor arrived we started pushing and at 4:32am on January 24th Katelyn Louise was born.  She was 6lbs and 18.5" long.  Her name comes from a few family members.  I always knew that if I had a girl she was going to be named after my Great Grandma Dot (middle name Louise).  Katelyn's first name is from my sister Kati and my Grandma Carolyn, also Ed's Aunt and Grandmother's names are both Kathleen so I was able to tie in both sides of the family.

Blowing kisses.

After her first bath at the hospital.

These booties cracked me up!  They were huge on her.

The pediatrician said I had the best dressed baby in the hospital.  :-)

Joey meeting his sissy for the first time.

She found her thumb!

Katelyn and I spent a lot of time together hanging out in the hospital.  We cuddled a lot, watched a couple movies, napped, and had lots of little chats.

Getting ready to go home.

Joey kind of took over Katelyn's bouncy chair.

Here's the little peanut at 1 week.
